Following on from Daydreamer, the first book in this series I immediately picked up Gold Digger as the story between Lottie and Ollie is referenced in the first book. Oliver is a billionaire Duke who develops a crush on his cleaner Lottie.
Turns out Lottie has a complicated life including looking after her younger sister who has selective mutism. Lottie is struggling to make ends meet and ultimately betrays Ollie’s trust - of course the story doesn’t end there and Ollie tries to win Lottie and her trust back.
I enjoyed this book more than Daydreamer actually, possibly because I am a sucker for the Cinderella theme this book reads like, and I felt the characters were really well written in this book. I just wanted to give Lottie a good shake and then a hug as she really just wanted to be part of a family unit that looked after her as well, but it took her a while to get there.
The dynamic between Lottie and her little sister Hayley was sooo sweet, and Ollie had some charm to him despite frustrating me at times in the book with his treatment of Lottie.
I am desperate to read the next book in the series Outlier as I have loved getting to know Vicky - Ollie’s half sister.
4/5 for me
