I'm back with another romance review, and this one absolutely lived up to the hype.

Praise by Sara Cate is one of those books that I kept seeing everywhere and wondering if it could possibly be as good as everyone said. Turns out? Yes. Yes, it can.

The story follows Charlie, who finds herself unexpectedly drawn into the world of Salacious Players Club after a messy breakup. There she meets Emerson Grant, the club owner—confident, experienced, and completely off-limits for more than one reason. What starts as an arrangement quickly turns into something much more complicated as feelings get involved and both characters are forced to confront what they actually want.

Now, I'll be honest: this book won't be for everyone. It's spicy, it leans into BDSM themes, and it definitely pushes some boundaries. But what surprised me most wasn't the spice—it was how much heart the story had underneath it all.

Charlie was such an easy character to root for. She's figuring herself out, rebuilding her confidence, and learning that she deserves more than the bare minimum from the people in her life. Emerson could have easily come across as just another dominant romance hero, but there was a lot more depth to him than I expected. He has his own insecurities, his own emotional baggage, and watching him slowly lower his walls was one of my favourite parts of the book.

The chemistry between them is unreal from the start, but it's the emotional connection that really sold me on their relationship. The age gap and the circumstances surrounding how they meet add plenty of tension, and there are definitely moments where you know things are going to get messy before they get better.

And honestly? I couldn't put it down.

❤️ What I Liked

The chemistry: The attraction between Charlie and Emerson jumps off the page from the very beginning.

The character growth: Both characters have their own journeys, and neither feels one-dimensional.

The emotional depth: For a book that's known for being spicy, there are a lot of surprisingly vulnerable moments.

The writing: Easy to get into and incredibly addictive. I kept telling myself "just one more chapter."

⚠ Things to Keep in Mind

This is a very spicy romance and contains BDSM themes throughout.

The age-gap dynamic won't be everyone's thing.

Some of the relationship complications may push a few readers outside their comfort zone.

✅ Would I Recommend It?

If you like:

Age-gap romance

Strong chemistry and lots of tension

Characters who actually grow throughout the story

Romance that's emotional as well as spicy

Then absolutely give this one a try.

I went into Praise expecting a fun, steamy read and ended up getting way more invested in the characters than I thought I would. It's sexy, emotional, occasionally messy, and incredibly addictive. I can completely understand why so many people recommend it.

And yes, I'll definitely be continuing with the rest of the Salacious Players Club series.

⭐ 4.5/5 for me
